Youth Group...
“A
garden of God is our childhood, each day
a festival radiant with laughter and play..”
- M.J. Lebensohn
Pam
Schwartz, Liaison (youthgroup@shjc.org)
Youth Group
offers an opportunity to identify as a Jew and share a sense of
belonging with other young people in our region, across the country and
around the world.
 USY
(United Synagogue Youth, high school
students), Kadima (grades 6 - 8) and Club 45 groups at SHJC offer a
range of cultural, social, educational and recreational activities
geared to the needs and interests of each group. This year,
our USY group was recognized as Chapter of the Year by the
Rakevet Division!
Based
in our own kid-friendly Youth House*, Youth Group is a place where
our children can have a good time in an organized activity, hit the road for
fully supervised trips, or just hang out with other Jewish
friends. Through various events, we seek to develop within our
young people a positive feeling of identity with Judaism, the
Synagogue, the community and Israel.
With the resources of the
New York Metropolitan Region behind us, our Youth Group continues to
grow and strengthen in both numbers and
enthusiasm.
*kid-friendly
youth house (noun): one that is complete with comfy
couches, an air
hockey table, pool table, foosball table, large screen TV's,
video games, awesome stereo equipment, a JUKEBOX (!) and munchies!!
